Hi all as the title suggests, how do I enable my E Class MBUX (9G Tronic) to display what gear the car is in?
Spent 1/2 an hour in the car and looked online...nothing.

Always had this info on my W205 with Comand Online.

When driving, if you push the gear stick over to the left into “manual” mode, does that show the gear in the display?

Why do you need to know what gear an auto box is in?

you don't but .... I do miss the tell tale in my facelift 451 Smart, the previous 451 - that died- used to show you what gear you were in. :)
Ahhh; so that feature is now missing on newer Mercs.

My 2016/17 W213 would show D and the gear number just after it, not driven a newer one to see if that’s been removed

Not 100% sure and certainly not going out in it to check today but I thought that the 9 speed box only showed you which gear it was using if you were in manual mode? To confirm this, try just flicking a paddle which will shift it and should also show you the gear on the display. After a few seconds it will revert back to auto and just display D again. The only way to keep it there is to have the car in manual all the time as far as I'm aware.

I prefer to let the car do the thinking for me nowadays so just leave mine in D, I used to think that I knew better than it but eventually came to the conclusion that I really don't. :(

I also miss the analogue clock that I had on my W205. So easy to glance at it and know the time, unlike the tiny digital thingy it has replaced.
