MBUX Not Displaying What Gear The Car Is In/

Hi all as the title suggests, how do I enable my E Class MBUX (9G Tronic) to display what gear the car is in?
Spent 1/2 an hour in the car and looked online...nothing.

Always had this info on my W205 with Comand Online.

you don't but .... I do miss the tell tale in my facelift 451 Smart, the previous 451 - that died- used to show you what gear you were in.

My 2016/17 W213 would show D and the gear number just after it, not driven a newer one to see if that’s been removed

Not 100% sure and certainly not going out in it to check today but I thought that the 9 speed box only showed you which gear it was using if you were in manual mode? To confirm this, try just flicking a paddle which will shift it and should also show you the gear on the display. After a few seconds it will revert back to auto and just display D again. The only way to keep it there is to have the car in manual all the time as far as I'm aware.

I prefer to let the car do the thinking for me nowadays so just leave mine in D, I used to think that I knew better than it but eventually came to the conclusion that I really don't.

I also miss the analogue clock that I had on my W205. So easy to glance at it and know the time, unlike the tiny digital thingy it has replaced.
