Hi I am new, always fancied a mercedes and after looking for several months found a 2003 s320 cdi, had a test drive and fell in love.....but there have been one or two issues. As I am new here I am going to start with a minor queery, my car does not have any memory buttons for the seats etc but my wife and I are very different sizes and need to adjust the seats and mirrors when we use the car even though we have 2 keys, do some cars not have a memory facility or am I missing something?
I would be greatful for any help.

I wouldnt have thought that a 2003 would have seat position memory by Key, but I could be wrong.

Memory seats were an optional extra.

Without the option of memory seats nothing can be done. If the car had memory seats then each key could be set for each driver.

can it? I have two keys :) Ill try that at the weekend but I am sure the memory on the key is a different package than just memory seats?

The 220,230 have all had this feature that includes the mirrors, it may only be possible on cars that came out as a new model after 2000 with EIS

It was a feature on my old w211, needs to activated in the dash menu.

Never used it though.

I do not think it is in the dash menu Richard, you just put each key in turn into the ignition and turn on, then set the seats and mirrors to that key.

I also use this feature to give me the choice of 3 different driving positions that has included the steering column with the 3 press buttons.

T212 facelift, 2013. A few toys including pan roof, 19" rims, Harmon Kardon, nappa, privacy glass.

Also does the steering column on mine. One of the things that makes me smile every time I turn the key (it's the simple things...)

On my old 211 it had the option to turn off/ on on the cluster. As I said I never used it so can't really offer any more.

memory keys

Thanks for all the answers guys, looks like we'll just have to ajust the seats and mirrors when we change drivers. Still loving the car but...... noticed a loss of power just about a month after I bought the car, took it to my local mercedes specialist said it was the MAF which is what I thought after looking at the posts on the subject in the forum.
Fair enough I think I got a bargain on the car so almost £200 later everything was running fine..... until about a month later the fan belt started to shred and I was quite a distance from the Merc Specialist so fearing the belt was about to snap (and maybe cause more damage) I went to the local Quick Fit and a couple of hours and almost £80 later we were good to go again.....
then last week chirp chirp from under the bonnet. I checked the forum and other sources and decided some belt dressing spray was the way to go. The chirping stopped but a couple of days later slap slap slap from under the bonnet. The belt was starting to shred again. Rang quick fit and took it back to them, fortunately the belt didn't snap on the way but there was no way they were going to come out so I took the chance. Had to leave it with them for them to investigate, they called the next day and said there was fuel leaking onto the belt and it was going to be around £700 to fix. Ouch! I said would you be kind enough to just replace the belt again and leave it at that and they said yes but they cannot warranty it which I guess is quite logical. So I pick up the car again tomorrow and I am wondering what to do. I really love the car but my pockets aren't bottomless and as (luckily) I only use it for leisure at week ends and don't need it for commuting it has done little mileage since I bought it around Christmas time but it does seem to be rather unreliable and could get very costly very fast. Any ideas what my next move should be, I am thinking maybe have a chat at the specialists to see what they suggest or buy a warranty or even trade in for something else, bit torn really as I really love the Merc. All ideas appreciated guys.

That was a bad answer from Kwikfit,,, I would say that the alternator pulley might be at fault, it has a one way clutch built in

If there is fuel leaking on the belt then it will be either the seals which are pence, or the pump itself.

Neither are worth junking the car over.

Yes I was thinking fuel pump from what I have read and I can't think that quick fit would lie about the fuel on the belt. Thanks for your input. FYI there isn't going to be any junking I love that car!
