Hello,

This is my first query as I have recently accquired my first Mercedes.
Its a G reg 190d 2.5 Deisel.
The problem I am experiencing is the inline filter (small plastic one) gets clogged up more often than I think it should. This obviously causes the car to lack power and eventually stop all together.
If anyone has experience of this problem or any advice I would be very grateful.

Thank you.

Clogged filter

What is the filter clogged with? Whatever it is can only be coming from the fuel tank so maybe you should rmeove the fuel tank & clean it, disconnect the fuel line from the filter & blow it through to remove any crud in the line

At high miles I have seen jelly-like crud in the tank sensor. Try pulling out the sensor (fuel gauge sensor) and see what shape it's in

Nick,

Thanks for your reply. I shall do what you say - it must be coming from the tank. The clear filter had sort of a black deposit in it, about the size of a chewed piece of chewing gum.
Do you know if it's a big job removing and cleaning the tank?

Thanks again.

Guido.
