Can anyone please tell me where this plug connects too. It comes from behind the bottom pulley I assume it is to do with the rotation of the fan but I cannot find where it's supposed to connect

your first picture looks like a clear or grey plug - buts its black and just covered in dirt - I think that threw the first reply

must say you did very well to map back to a component - the CPS ...."crank position sensor" is a vital part of a modern car's engine management system- it tells the ECU what postiion the engine is in for idle speed, ignition timing and probably fuel injection - and as you have found they are at the back of the engine because it picks up data looking at the flywheel going round

from you next post, you can see the whole unit comes with the plug you have spare attached - so it seems someone replaced the sensor (they do fail - often causing stalling in traffic or failing to fire up when the engine is hot) and I guess due to cable ties or where its routed, couldn't be bothered to remove it and left the old one on the car

It may fit in the 32 pin diagnostic plug, unbolt the plug and see.

Sorry I'm in my 70s and you lost me there I replaced the old engine which had the sensor at the rear. But this one has it at the front so the plug fitting is different is the picture show as the cost pic the plug as it is now my old engine had pic two because it was at rear so what done do with this side now as I can't find anywhere to plug it in

Apparently this engine has this type sensor as new my old engine was fitted with one at rear and had a different plug so am still of no surety as to where or how to plug it in and my Merc manual doesn't help just for the help this is a UK vech

Yes you were correct I removed the unit and it fitted in the bottom of the plug thanks for that sorry I didn't know that I hadn't replied so sorry for the late reply I have the vech up and running know and plan to MOT it later this month when I can sort out a couple of things. Like I can't find out where the air sensor wire connects to and if I've got the three sensors units on the cylinder head connected with the right wires michael

There should be a temp sensor on/in the plastic air intake tube.

Ok is this the one in the front of the air intake that you twist to the right when you plug it in if so I'm not explaining the right request. Under the air intake where the flap sucks the air in there's a wire that comes out of the unit with a two pin plug on it I thought that was the air sensor wire so I got that wrong didn't I the one on the air filter box is in place so what is the one under the filter for please and where should it plug in as I've no spare plugs that why I wondered if I'd plugged the right ones into the sensors on the head ref picture ( sorry for being a pain but believe it or not in am winning slowly) because the only wire that I have left that isn't plugged in is a round one with 4 pins in it

Ok. This is all I have left to connect IMG_20240405_152211.jpg . Do this fit the throttle body connection or the one on the cylinder head as it will fit either I've left it unplugged at the moment as I don't want to put it in wrong place. If it's on the head what plugs into throttle body as no other plugs available
