Dealers only work on fault codes I'm afraid. So whats wrong with you? Clearly if the computer says all is fine, then it is, don't be so stupid, its all in your mind.
Sorry, been there x 3. I even tried explaining that the fact there are no fault codes only means that the computer hasn't detected the fault, not that there isn't one. Unfortunatley, I might as well have been speaking swaheli. As a computer bloke, I know how crap computers can be. I've checked the programs supposed professionals have written, and seen the blank looks on the programmer's faces when I ask "What happens if ....?" Half the programmers out there I wouldn't trust to write the code for my central heating timeclock, but to most modern mechanics, they are the bible.

What you need is a mechanic, not a computer operator, and the only place you'll find one of those is your local Merc specialist (W211s are too complex IMO for a back street garage, you need a proper specialist so if you don't know one, put up where you are and someone will point you in the right direction). Get an indie to drive it and then let them sort it. It will cost half as much and you'll end up with the car you love back again. And somewhere that will service your car for 1/2 the dealer cost too!

Worked for me anyway.

FInd a decent indie like JB says. According MB, the ECU on our C class was shot (random misfire/ran on three, stop/restart was fine) we needed a new one fitting for a grand. They would not discuss anything other than old off/new on.

Indi could not really find a problem, was working along lines of one of the coil breaking down. He got a new one in and was going to fit it, on doing the job discovered was a rubber lead connecter thingy bit. Final bill was less than twenty quid.

Hi

This car should fly is the problem intermitant? contary to popular belief the dealers dont only work of fault codes as 7 out of 10 times they are wrong they only give an indication of the problem area, Most common cause's of lack of power :-

boost pressure leaking
blocked exhaust
air mass meter faulty
EGR valve stuck
turbo boost control stuck
injector leak off too high (also poor starting)

I agree try another dealer

Hi - I have exactly the same problem - after a few miles the turbo and kickdown go awol. If I stop and switch off -on they are back for a while. Fuel consumption is down to 26 mpg and she smokes like a destroyer. An Indie has had 2 goes - and failed - one more and he is out. How was yours resolved?

My E320cdi did the same just before Christmas. No fault codes. Changed the MAS sensor and she's flying again.

if a off-on cycle cures then it is probably electrical. It resets the safe mode hence its ok until the fault is detected again. If you've never replaced it, my money would be on the MAS. Quite common. You can often run it without the MAS connected. If the car is bad, it will actually improve things though don't do it for too long of you'll kill the cat!
