Hi Guys. Just jumped in the wifes wagon. Check that awful mpg. Does she give it death or is it broken?

If she is only urban driving, I would say be concerned if it was regularly under 30, 35 looks just about ok if she has a less fuel efficient driving style and a lead foot. Also, if she leaves it idling in the cold weather to warm it up/defrost/de-mist it will hit the MPG.

Looks about the same as my E220 doing the same average speed.

It's a very low average speed , so slow town driving . Looks ok , probably going to get some Dpf issues if she doesn't go faster .

John, if you wanted that mpg you should’ve bought a Clio ;)

These stupid "lifestyle" vehicles with 4 matic and brick shape are never going to be as economic to run as a normal car.

True, but when Mercedes release statistics saying 56mpg, and honestjohn website has an average of 46 iirc, you can imagine my shock at seeing 35. My wife travels 9 miles to Salisbury on an A road so not exactly just in town.

Hardly warm up in 9 miles unfortunately- I suspect that’s as good as it will get on that profile really...
My daily drive is 10 miles each way and a mixture town motorway and A road- it’s only at the end the oil is up to c90oc ( and not in the blue ) - water temp the same. And that’s a large petrol engine.
You’d notice a big difference on a 20 mile plus run
Oh and our XC90 with a 2.0d is about 12mpg shy of the book figure but for the same reason
