If there is a switch on the near side as in my 1992 190E else the timing disk needs to be retarded.

The engine you have is the 115 engine. Ideally you need the valve guides replaced in the head with the hardened type.

According to the owners manual, my 1972 220 would run on unleaded just fine, cant scan it though cos i sold it a couple of months ago.

Get a clean bottle or container. Fill it with unleaded petrol, disconnect fuel line and connect the line to the unleaded petrol in the bottle. You may need to retard the timing to get it to run perfectly; but this should give you a good indication of whether it will run on unleaded or not.
