Mercedes 308D Van diesel engine

I know this forum is mainly for cars, but I'm having great difficulties finding anywhere with information for the commercials!

My Mercedes 308D van needs a new head gasket. I'm going to attempt the job myself and I've got the head bolt tightening sequence and the torque wrench settings but I'd like some more information about the actual job itself.

I take it the camshaft must be removed to gain access to the head bolts from my initial inspections?

To set the engine to TDC I take it you line up the protruding spike from the bottom pulled with the little hole in the bracket that sticks out from the block/sump?

Anyone point me in the direction of a manual for this engine/van?

I think it's 2.3 or 2.4 litre... I still haven't got round to replacing the head gasket yet!

This is a great forum for cars but I think you have exposed the limit!

Have you tried posting on http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum in their technical section. It is very wide ranging and the contributors are of a more generalist rather than having a specialist interest.
