Hiya . New here .
can any one tell me where the cross shaft location is please. Just doing a service. And thought I would lube up the cross shaft while I've got the cab tilted. Clutch pedal is a bit stiff. So going to try the lube first...
Pretty sure there will be more questions later..thanks ian. 1990 6l if that makes any difference

there is no cross shaft for the clutch its hydraulic so its just a hydraulic line from master cylinder, there is a little screw cap on the side of the bell housing which you remove and fill the cap with special grey grease and screw the cap back on that lubricates the release bearing, the only cross shaft is for the throttle pedal and that is located at the front of the vehicle across the chassis rails you can access it from the front under the grill or with the cab tilted there are usaully some grease nipples fitted to it,if you are going to service it just go around with a grease gun and grease the kingpin bearings as well they will also have grease nipples top and bottom, and for the cost of it do the fuel pre filter it sits in a little glass bowl and so easily ignored but can goes running issues if left to get blocked.

thanks jasons76. That could be the reason why I couldn't see the cross shaft. I only read somewhere that it had a shaft for greasing..I will look later for the cap . And also look for the pre filter. Is there any diagrams on this site I could look over. Instead of just staring at the engine for hours..thanks again ian

Back in the 80s/90s i use to drive one with the 6 cylinder engine. As Jason 76 says there is a cross shaft at the front of the engine for the throttle and over a period of time driving rain use to seize it up and restrict the throttle movement.
A good reliable truck if looked after properly.

hiya, i must of read it wrong about cross shaft, what im looking for now is the CAP for greasing, also will be looking for the pre fuel filter.
i might as well ask another question while here, is there any way i can find out mileage on my truck, clock read 35km , i just cant see it going round the clock as the condition is excellent, ( passenger seat looks as if its never been sat in, drivers seat is as new plus i was told its a coach built horse box, i cant see oakley buying a truck with a million km on the clock for a conversion, thanks in advance for any replies ian

to be honest most horseboxes don't do a lot of miles especially if its the showjumping/event horses that are only used weekends a few times a year so it is entirely possible that it is low mileage do you mean 35000 km or 35km,are you using it as a horsebox or for something else,i cant remember now what the laws are regarding tachographs i assume it has one fitted. you are lucky you have a tilt cab most 814 horseboxes i worked on the cab was bolted down which made access really fun. the grease cap is on the bell housing on the drivers side if i remember correctly.
