Hi Everyone
I'm Tim and I've been running a Merc 814 ecopower as a racetruck/motorhome for the last five years. I love it, it is a 1998 model and has covered just over 100000km which I've been told is nothing. Its never let me down and hasn't even had so much as an advisory going through its MOTs since I've had it.
The question I wanted to ask was about the gearbox. It is hard to get into gear when the truck is cold. I usually warm it up before i go anywhere and in which case its fine, but if i have to move off quickly for any reason its really tough to get into gear. I have changed the slave cylinder on it as it was dripping, with a new, non mercedes part and it is not leaking anymore. I had it serviced last year and i know that the gearbox oil wasn't changed, they checked it and said it was fine. I wasn't to sure about this but they should know best I guess, it was perfectly clear.
Is it normal for these trucks? if not what should I be looking at?
Many thanks in advance for any advice.
Best
Tim
