Hi,

I've got a Mercedes A150 (W169) manual which is struggling to start, the car feels like it's struggling to even crank it feels like the car has no power what's so ever. Bearing in mind i just took the car for a fairly long drive and it was fine, it was after i left it parked up and tried starting it again that this started happening. I recently had a brand new battery fitted and the starter motor was changed not that long ago either. The car does have a misfiring issue because it feels like the car struggles slightly when under acceleration and it makes an unusual sound, not sure if these two issues are related.

If anyone can offer any assistance I would really appreciate it as this cars driving me mad!

Thanks

Look at the engine of your 1995 A140, and the engine of your w169 A150, then tell me the differences.
Can you please tell me the mileage of the A150.
Is it possible to tell me more about the unusual sound. Thanks.

Sorry I don't have my A140 anymore that was scrapped ages ago. The mileage on the A150 is around 110,000 miles. I can't really describe the sound the car makes when it's under acceleration but it sounds louder then it did and the car just doesn't feel as fast it did before either. This morning when I tried cranking the car it felt like the car was really struggling to even crank over before it completely died and then i had to reinsert the key and try again. The weird thing was when i tried starting the car with jump leads it worked first time. Saying that the battery is brand new and also the starter motor was changed not that long ago. Am not sure what it is but it's really annoying me now.

On top of that the car has a bad oil leak, it's leaking out oil every near the pulley at the bottom of the engine. Please see picture below, it was the best picture i could get.

Sooo it fired first time, but was it idling normally.,?
Did you press the accelerator,? What was the sound like then ?

Sorry about the picture guys it was the best one I could take. After we started the car with jump leads it was idling fine and it seems to be starting like normal now even after switching the car on and off. It's just when your under acceleration it makes a weird noise I'll try and get a video taken. It's definitely an intermittent issue, we also recently had the car scanned for faults but nothing came up. A friend of mine had a snap diagnostic tool. Do you think something could be draining the battery or an electrical fault?

Thanks

With the engine idling, press the accelerator gradually all the way. Listen for the weird noise., and look at the rev counter. At what revs did the weird noise start.?
Would you say it is a noise of metal hitting metal.?
