Mercedes Benz 240E 1998 issues

i have this car for 5years and never have any major issues but three weeks ago,. i was driving and a few lights came up on the dashboard and funny noise from the motor/ gear box (i don't know)that the power slow down and acceleration is gone. i stopped and i waited for the motor cool down. i drove another 2k but it happen again.
i have towed the car to the mechanic. the mechanic did all the Eletronic test but couldn't find anything.
i just want to know if anyone have this problem

confirm type of transmission i.e. manual or automatic (5G-Tronic), if automatic have a look at threads related to 722.6 transmission, but your problem sounds like engine, confirm if your transmission is still changing gears or stuck in one gear

lights coming up on dashboard suggest engine problem, what lights come up please? is it only engine management light if others what others? more info please,

thanks for your respond, the transmission is automatic.
during that week when the different signs came up, they were BAS ASR, ABS, LIM, the cruise control wasn't working. the only lights were working the high beam, brake and the fog lights
the auto transmission still working

If Abs bas esp comes up I think cruise control is turned off for safety, so your mechanic did not find any fault codes yes? This event was temporary and went away yes

Others will know more about this but if the fault came and went away I would be thinking battery problem electrical power problem bad electrical earth connection etc. Something that happened intermittently. Maybe it is simply an abs bas esp problem that is intermittent but should leave behind a fault code to explain the event whereas a battery electrical power problem might not record a fault code

Maybe someone else can comment otherwise find a different mechanic with more experience of this car

the mechanic went thought the electrical test but couldn't find anything. the battery is only 3 years old. i left the car with them for 2 weeks so they can drive it but everything was normal. do you suggest anything else
