I have a W203 220 CDI 2006 Manual.
The centre console has started to make an annoying rattle/noise.
The noise increases on acceleration and hard braking (mph or rpm doesn't seem to matter much) making me think what ever it is has some lateral movement on its axis (i.e. moving forward and backwards). You tube upload
I have checked the underneath of the car and removed the undertrays to check:
- fowling on the drive shaft (from the gearbox) no signs of chaffing etc.
- heatshields and attachment points. No obvious issues (did not remove)
- hand brake cable (blue clips are still there and the cable in view looks secure and no signs of chaffing)
It is worth noting the noise can not be heard when the windows are down so I'm pretty sure it's nothing around the underneath of the car or and loose trays.
It cannot be heard when the car drives from a cold start. It develops once the car has warmed up (20 mins or so).
No lights or fault codes.
Any help would be appreciated. I have a long journey next month and I'm dreading listening to it for 6 hours!
