Hi everyone!

I think I should commend the level of service that I have received at an MB dealer after all the bad press.

In July of this year, My W211 went in to Mercedes-Benz of Coventry for a brake fluid change. After calling around, Birmingham wanted £190, I found that £120 was a very good price.

The car went in on a Friday night and I took a B class loan car, that had a full tank. I used this car until the following Monday (did about 400 miles). When I picked up the car, not only did the full car check come back with very little in terms of issues ( rear tyres and high level brake light) but it had the battery in the key fob and the steering and washer fluids topped up!

It goes in for a service at the end of the month which again, no other dealer could beat in price. I am having the all round checks, oil and filter plus combination filter done for £219 with a loan car for another 4 days!

Once this is done, I would have paid £339 for a full E+ service (brake fluid, oil, oil filter, combination filter, poly v belt check etc), with a tank and a halves worth of fuel (£100 ish) for free, plus 900 less miles on my own car.

While the obvious benefits are there (quality servicing by the experts and free road side assistance), there is also the benefit of building a great relationship with the MB dealer for the future. The only thing that I don't let them do is wash my car!

Enough of me going on, but all I can say, is very well done Mercedes-Benz of Coventry and a special thanks to Charlie and Dawn (if anyone uses Coventry, they will know how good these two people are!)

Can I have the number for this dealership? I might ask for a quote on my B3 service which is on its way soon

Why on earth would you knowingly return the car with less fuel in it than it had when you collected it?
Why wouldn't you replenish it? You've used the fuel just as you would if it were in your own car, so why expect it for free?
It seems to me that you're punishing this dealership for having received good service!
If you find a business that gives good service, the least you can do is ensure that their costs are their own costs and not yours as well. That way they might stay in business and continue to be in a position to give you the service you so appreciate long into the future.
Greed, pure and simple.

That is true, but then again, the main dealer might not have minded so much?? maybe something to learn from in the future

My least favorite MB dealer struck again, MB Leeds. Not only had they put both my son in law and I off buying from them let alone having them do any service but my neighbour went in with his 18 month old Maserati and couldn't even get a salesman to acknowledge him.Wanted to buy a fully loaded ML for cash.
Walked out and went to the Porsche people and spent in excess of £90,000. When will they ever learn?

My last two servicings have been from MB Bishop's Stortford and they have also carried out the MOT and a glowplug replacement.
Good service, they pick the car up from my place of work and deliver it back nice and clean inside and out.No complaints.

Agree with the view - £100 of fuel to us is £100 to a main dealer too so basically there will be little margin left in the pot, so prices will go up for all.

Perhaps they didn't realise it came back empty assuming and might address the matter.

Hope so - I don't like greed and even more I dislike people taking advantage.

Yowsa!!

Like the bloke who wanted me to send his comand unit away for repair.
I did so and lent him another unit in the mean time.
The repair took longer than anticipated and he accused me of selling his unit on ebay.
When his unit was eventually returned he claimed that it wasn't his original unit because he'd written down the numbers from the label on the side and they were different.
I turned the unit over and showed him the label on the other side which did have the same numbers that he'd written down.
He accused me of fabricating the label (I'm not making this up)
The next day he returned when I wasn't there, assaulted a member of staff and stole my Star tester.
The police eventually recovered my Star machine one month later, returned him his now repaired Comand unit but failed to recover my Comand unit which was still in his car.
He was successfully prosecuted for the assault but the CPS decided not to charge him with theft of either my Star machine or my Comand unit and had the temerity to suggest that I should take up a civil case against him for those items and my loss of income.
So, sometimes, if I don't like the look or sound of you, I'll tell you to take your business elsewhere.....

I would've got his car lifted...Sometimes customers just don't understand the expenses that are incurred in running a business and almost want something for free... Some customers you can never ever please, no matter what (here you tend to lose money) , others tend to be really reasonable and understanding (the ones who should really be looked after but are often ignored as they tend not to be vocal but are your bread and butter) and some are like the goose that lays the golden egg... They come round once in a blue moon, spend a fortune and dont even care as they have so much...

Unfortuntely on the forums we are unlikely to hear from the latter two so it's quite easy to name and shame....

From a personal experience I would say Hughes of Beaconsfield are fab - and the parts guys at Brentford who are great are pipped by those in Slough by a tinsy margin for their customer service...

Not necessarily - We rent vehicles and they are never used by the company except for when being serviced/MOT'd in house...

Our school of thought is the fuel left by one customer is a bonus for the next... So long as we have a few quid in there so it can be shunted around that's all we need... Essentially it never goes out much more than empty and so any it comes back with isn't really for us to capitalise on...

Just a thought....

Since buying my car, I have had it serviced at MB Shrewsbury.
They have always been excellent and I have had no problems with them at all.

However, having read much from the 'Wise Old Owls' of the Forum I have decided that I can no longer afford the dealer prices despite getting a 30% discount on labour and have found a local Indie who I will be trying out next time around.

What made them put you and your son-in-law off?

What made them put you and your son-in-law off?

1st time went in to buy a new A class, but wanted a ride first. I know, I'm picky. You would have thought I'd asked to ravage the receptionist but eventually got a test ride. Soi we discuss cash price, no p/ex, no credit required, cash there and then. As I recall they offered something less than a thousand off what was then a run out model. An offer I could resist. Some months later having bought a C class elsewhere I have a problem with the box so limp into Leeds as nearest MB dealer. 5 hours later (this is a warrenty mobilo breakdown) they fit a new electric plate. 24 hours later, Bank Holiday Friday it goes in the outside lane of the M1, brown trouser time. Limp off call mobio who take it to Leeds, 4 days later get it back, they had left drain bolt loose and all the oil drained out last time they "fixed" it. You couldn't make it up. Mobilo repairs are the first priority according to MB so why did mine have to wait?

Son in law goes in to buy new R class, again cash in hand, can't get any attention , can't get a test drive, can't get an appointment to get test drive, can't get anyone to answer any questions. Walks out, buys elsewhere.

A year later has a problem with handbrake, takes it to Leeds, they won't look at it because has non MB fitted tow bar. What a broken brake pull handle has to do with a tow bar only God and MB Leeds know.

Also had issue with them over corrosion to wheels in first 18 months from new and have to get shirty to get satisfaction.

Too busy drinking coffee and preening themselves in their cheap suits to recognise a customer when he appears. Neither son in law, neighbour or I would wear their aweful clothes to clean our cars with but they think they look too good for that place.

MB Bradford, same owners, same grouping, couldn't be better, can't do enough. I guess its the man at the top who sets the standard so they should cull the manager at Leeds.

I will add my experience of dealership in Brentford on 2 instances (1 for warranty repair, 2nd 1st free service)

Both instances i have paid nothing at all and service has been exceptional, Service managers (patrick and Howard) were extremly helpful and didnt try to charge me for anything that i didnt want.

In first visit i was actually given a S350 on 2010 plate as a courtesy car as mine was going in for warranty repair (how good is that)

I cant fault them for now, I think it will soon wear off when i dont get them on a good day. LOL

for now though, big thumps up for Brentford and Patrick and Howard.

WOW! You are lucky to get an S350! I think the best I have ever got was a C200 CDI Sport from Mercedes-Benz Of Milton Keynes (but I didn't complain and wasn't bothered, she did the job!). Here's hoping your good relationship with them stays the same!

Get a life!

Absolutely no need for that, if you dont like it, dont comment!!

Why dont you get a life yourself, we were having a perfectly normal debate on this thread, it seems like your the one who needs one if your sad enough to say pointless and needless things like that!
