Hi all,
ive been told that my 96 c180 is a flash code type diagnostic unit. And would need to count the number of flashes on a test light or led to trace faults. Can anyone shed any light on what to use, where to connect and obviously where i can find a fault code decode.
Many thanks for any replies

Lack of power intermittently, popping in exhaust on engine overun, spark plugs look sooty.
Have replaced spark plugs, air filter and mass airflow sensor, all make a marginal improvement but problem still exsists. Sometimes the car will run fine, but other times more often will not. In neutral engine will not rev above 3500 rpm, but when driving will rev to normal limits. Not sure where to look next!!

There will be a rev limit in neutral, normally around 4K.

You will have a 32 pin socket on the left under a black cover. Not many systems will read it for the early cars. A specialist may be able to help
