Not sure if i'm posting in the right sub-forum since I have no idea what this is. I fear the worst - transmission, but I welcome any comments that allay my fears. :D

Either way, any help/advice anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Seems to happen when I have passengers in the rear, but last night i noticed a few times, a metallic clang come from the O/S underneath of the rear of my car. Car is an auto, seems to have no problem shifting up and down the gears regardless of sound. Backbox is secure and there is nothing loose underneath the car that I can see.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

I had a combined weight of about 35 stone in the back yesterday which prompted this noise a couple of times.

Today, I had a 13 stone passenger in the rear and no noise.

Thanks for your help thus far, i'll have a look.

If this is the problem it will only be the last 4" of the bottom coil that has broken
