It’s saying it all there- engine restart is malfunctioning so it will likely need a diagnostic on star and probably a software update. Having a hybrid outside warranty is a no no, I’d sort that as well as this issue

As John says you are going to get nowhere without a Star diagnosis.

Theres a fault code that needs investigating right away. Something is either wrong in the software or there there is a fault with what it needs to count.

As people have intimated these are very complex systems. People tend to think of the electrical power system as an electric motor and a battery but these systems have complex cooling systems to keep them operating in a very narrow temperature band. Some info here
https://mbwis.net/en/doc/18045915
In terms of the fault U301700 Realtime control unit internal clock has a fault that might be the result of a momentary communication glitch sometime in the past and unrelated to your present problem. Systems employing multiple microprocessor control units all need to synchronise their internal clocks so they operate in the same " time zone" A momentary communication glitch might flag up a fault like this. Did the tech who performed the test feel it was significant?
More difficult to find would be a faulty temperature sensor giving a false reading- it might be enough to prevent use of the electrical power [system too hot/too cold] but not enough to trigger an "out of range" reading which would log a sensor fault code. Its this sort of thing that software updates address and an experienced technician who is familiar with these cars can anticipate .

As in yes they can charge you for fitting parts and it still not being fixed, they may do some sort of deal and reduce the labour costs but they have still spent their time doing the work, would you work completely for free and spend you own money on parts on someone else’s car?

Because they don’t know enough about the hybrid drive system and are just going off fault codes instead of spending a long time with live data and numerous runs to get to the root cause. These guys aren’t diagnostic engineers they’re part fitters
