Hi all

I can't find a printed technical maintenance/repair manual for a 1991 560 SEC but there are always plenty of CD manuals for sale on Ebay at £5-£10. Has anyone out there bought one, and are they any good.

Would really appreciate anyone's input on this - or advice on where to get a printed original Haynes type manual.

Thanks

Workshop manuals on e-bay

I bought a 5 disc cd set and had a nightmare installing them.

But I bought a DVD for $24.00 and it worked perfectly.

It depends on how much you want to risk

I purchased 3 sets on eBay (11 CDs) covering different aspects of a wide range of MB models and you will find that they are highly detailed, more than any paper-base manual. But you will require a modern Windows-based PC with a largish hard disk.

Yes, these CDs can be awkward to install because they are comprehensive technical manuals as used by the trade and they should be installed on a PC before use. Razormac36 reported he had this problem. I too. You will likely require 2 CD drives to facilitate installation.

You can purchase a set of discs on eBay for under a tennor and they are surprisingly good value compared with your typical Haynes manual.

I got the WIS DVD for £20 and yes it is a bit of a pig to install, but luckily the seller had incuded full instructions which if followed thru fully work fine. The programme itself seems to cover virtually every MB ever built , car, trucks the lot.
Good for detail but awkward to find what you are looking for. the more you use it the more you find.

Thanks everyone. I finally bought the 2 CD US manual on ebay for £6.99 incl. p&p. It wouldn't run on XP using latest acrobat version and refused to load Acrobat 3.0 as recomended by the vendor (also supplied on the disc). Eventually I got it to run through bypassing this and opening it via a different file.

It is pretty comprehensive but confusing/awkward to navigate and the graphic quality is lacking in some areas. It is certainly not as user friendly as a Haynes manual - but they don't exist for W126s (I've asked them)

As these CDs are so popular but so troublesome it makes you wonder why a techy out there doesn't come up with a new easy to install and navigate version and charges a bit more for it.

I once bought a very good manual for a 1989 300SE from Bentley Publishers in the states www.bentleypublishers.com it wasn't cheap but invaluable to any repair work. I think it was around £75.

Hello,
I have a 95 310D non-sprinter, do you know if the £20 DVD eBay sets cover vans as well as cars?

Latest electronic manuals on DVD.

The 2004/5 electronic manuals are on DVD (1/2 disc sets) and widely available on eBay. However, they are expensive. Expect to pay in the region of £50+.

The CD sets, still available, cost around £15.
