Hi Everyone,
I've just purchased my first Merc and went for the CL500 and although it's a very nice drive and spent along time trying to find the perfect car with service history etc. I seemed to have brought one with a either a fault in the head unit or the radio aspect of the head unit!
The problem is the radio cuts out intermittently every 10/20 mins and then comes back on again. It also occasionally turns it's self off altogether and then comes back on about 30 seconds later. My local Merc specialist thinks it could be a perished wire either at the back or within the unit its self or possibly somewhere else!
Before I start paying for the electrics to be overhauled does anyone know if this is a common problem or a problem that they've heard of and can point me in the right direction to fix it easily?
The only thing I haven't tried is just listening to CD's and seeing if this solves the problem, I assume then it's something to do with the transistor (if they have this!!!) and not the whole head unit
If anyone can recommend a good, reliable auto electrician in the Watford/ St Albans area that would be good?
Any help would be appreciated?
Thanks,
Graham
