At least the estate is not so banana looking;)

When this is all said and done, and if I manage to establish my future photography business and it really takes off, this will be the SFTphotography charriot. Its a very handsome car, its less banana like as the arch from the B post down is a lot less severe than on the coupe/saloon version.

Or, if it does well and I need to still keep the day job, an E class estate will do the trick.

Jay from Mercland will be recieving instructions in a few years to find me a good car that fits the bill.

I want one so much, have been looking at E350 CDi estates but the CLS is so much better looking I may have to wait for a bit longer till they drop into my price range

They are not for me at all :( Strange thing is we have never had this type of discussion on any other model

It really is marmite. A bit like the porsche panamera.

The Porsche Panamera would be a lottery win car for me...

Yep same here. Would have to be the turbo of course.

Yes please. Loved it from the moment I saw it, in white with the rosewood load decking, beige leather and walnut wood trim. Looks almost nautical/yacht like.

2.50 engine svp.

No idea when Ill be able to afford another CLS though.... probably the 4 year mark.

If be afraid to use it as I normally use an estate car. Its too nice and well appointed in the tail for the sort of stuff I throw in the boot - car parts, springer spaniels, a greyhound, tools, trolley jacks......
For me, an estate needs to be easily cleaned and not too expensive to repair should something get scrapped or bashed - I guess the price tag would put it firmly out of the running for a hard working car

Yes indeed, that's why its a shooting brake, not an estate car. Allows you to cruise around the family pile with a saddle in the boot next to a brace of matched Purdeys in case you see a couple of pheasants on the way to the stable block.....

This concept of the 218 has been done before by Abbot and Rolls Royce, they were body builder to RR in the 60's and they did an estate version with a high quality load space with a wood floor as I recall, intended for the gentry farmer and mansion owner.

Strange thing was it was not unlike the 218 in its roof design with a very low roof at the loading area.

Picking up on your historical reference, television, some lovely shooting brakes here.

Especially admire the Delahaye

Good to see this thread revived for a debate....;)

I may be the odd to the norm here but I never did like the Shooting brake, nice Merc but I just prefer the style of the car as was intended without an extended rear window....just to be reeeally provocotive however is a thought that the SB is not really a CLS....I mean it has 5 SEATS....:D

The 5 seats thing was debated some time back and that center seat is not really a seat for traveling far in.

CLS350 Shooting Brake 2013
Bought a CLS350 in December 2013 and up to last month loved everything about it. Beautiful to drive, gorgeous interior, plenty of legroom in the front and back and lots of bootspace.

Unfortunately I am having some engine problems now which have really disappointed me (not to mention scared the heck out of me !) so my enjoyment has been short lived. Hopefully it will be something small that can be easily fixed but not happy to encounter problems so early on

These thing can happen, the identical thing happened on my 2 door S class the 216, it would just stop, it was the CPS in my case, a dead simple fix that took 15 mins.
