Hi, I'm looking to buy a diesel estate around £8,000. Could any of you advise me on which model for mph, spec, etc.
Thanks in advance, Sootyblue.

C220 CDi IMO. depending on your needs. the C is smaller than the E BUT on the other hand is more economical than the E. or for a compromise, an E220 CDi

Depends what you are looking for!

Power and fuel costs not an issue - E55 (15 - 28mpg)

Power with decent mpg - E320CDi (25 - 40mpg)

Reasonable power with good mpg and relaibility - E270CDi (27 - 45mpg)

Fair power with frugality and good relaibility - E220CDi (30 - 50mpg)

Spec is subjective the more time you spend looking for the right car the better spec you will find.

Hope this helps!

7 seats were an option on the E class, they don't fit in the C class so you're going to have to choose.

As far as other equipment goes, there's not much difference between standard models, or even between comfort/elegance/avantgarde, you'll just have to see which extras have been fitted.

The 270 engine in mine is excellent, reliable, economical and fast enough , a bit lumpy on tickover but growls nicely above 3000rpm when the need arises.

The E Class offers the 7 seat option, which i have on mine, don't use it much anymore as the kids are grown but certainly adds to resale.

The C Class is the smaller estate, very nice in 220CDi sport guise, see ST4s for an example, he photos it a lot so he is obviously very pleased with it, lol.

Seriously though, it is a nice package and certainly the one I would go for.
