Hi, I need some help on upgrading the rear of my vehicle to fit in another exhaust. Ive just bought a 2012 Mercedes E220 CDI Blue Efficiency Coupe. I am led to believe that its a W212. I would like to do it up a bit, mainly the rear exhaust system so I can add another exhaust in. Does anyone know what I would need body kit wise to get the below picture of the rear of my vehicle looking like either of the pictures below? I would give it into a body shop to do the work but want to know if its doable. Thanks!

You are talking a lot of cash to swap it out, will anyone really notice?

Yours is a C207 if it's a 2012 e class coupe.

I had one (great car) and only recently swapped it out for a 2016 model (greaterer car!)

I did look at the same as you, which is essentially putting the facelift exhaust and trim on my pre facelift 2012 one
Parts and labour were not cheap despite MSL saying they could do it, so I didn't progress it - albeit I now have it on the new(er) car.

I did also question if the look would be balanced without doing the front as well

But swapping out the rear bumper trim is seemingly possible. Talk to MSL as a starting point or a local body shop or, look the part numbers up if you're confident, competent and brave.
It's was a four figure upgrade I didn't feel worth it though.....

Is the idea to make people think that the 2.2 litre is really a 6 litre? If so, you need to remove the badge too.

Don't think he wants to change the exhaust to make it look, like a ,
6 litre, my guess it's purely for aesthetic reasons, personally I'd go to a reputable exhaust fabricator, they'll do a good job on that, give him twin exhausts if that's what he wants. :)

and put a AMG badge on for good measure.

A rather expensive mod for a look only. You wont get anything performance wise.

Everything is possible with the money and tools.

Source the parts yourself and go to a exhaust place. Jobs a good un.

Thanks for the information much appreciated. I'm not sure if mine has the sports bumper, do I need the sports bumper to get this to work? Just pricing things up to see the cost.

Looking at your car picture the bumper part you are talking about cutting is the black removable plastic section . Can you not get that cut to the same shape as the current left hand exhaust pipe exit and then buy the same shape chrome exhaust end and have that welded onto a bracket underneath ?

On your 3rd pic, I had understood that the offside 'exhaust outlet' was actually a dummy anyway and only the n/s had a real pipe behind it. In which case you might be able to get a scrap rear bumper and trims only and forget about adding an extra exhaust - which, let's face it, an E220d doesn't need. I think that might be what Wighty is suggesting?
