Hello members,
Had a previous customer who we tuned his E350 CDI maybe 3-4 Years popped down for a few runs and some logging.
Customer had always been really happy with the performance but over time noticed the mid range have a hesitation and flat spot.
The gentleman got in touch as he used to live relatively close but has since moved up north but only wanted us to check now that we have our facility.
It did indeed have a flat spot in the mid range and after lots of logging I decided to make some calibration changes to the mapping at that load point and manipulated fuelling, boost and a couple of other bits to see if we can get any change which we had no luck.
Conclusion we have is that something underlying is holding back but we couldn't find exactly what! We have a few theories but customer has a good mechanic he knows to investigate we will also help.
Customer was super happy we could get him in to check which we didn't charge for and are helping along the way to get it sorted.
Equipped with the Bosch EDC17 CP46 management system which we have access to the management via OBD with a real READ not Virtual and WRITE.
After many runs, logs and sweep tests with multiple tweaks to the software we still saw 300bhp and 688nm of torque.
Below are shots and plots.
