Hello members,
Bit of a strange one and have been holding back if we should post or not but client of ours said we really should.
Client of ours who we have been tuning his cars for years and includes A45 AMG, McLaren 570s, AMG GTR, 911 Turbo S, multiple range rovers etc..... Bought this G63 AMG and was initially chuffed to bits with it as you can see from the spec and colour it has some serious presence, that was until he drive off with it!
He instantly called us and said "somethings not right with this" it didn't sound like it was running right, throttle feel and transmission behaviour was awful and sounded like something was up with the exhaust.
He booked it in with us like he usually does with his new cars but this time for us to get to the bottom of what was wrong.....
It had been previously tuned and very poorly hence the throttle feel, poor fuel consumption (Worse than usual) and gearbox hadn't got a clue what it was doing, also it had had a custom exhaust made for it and our jaws hit the floor when we saw it!, Terrible design, cut about with the OEM flanges, inadequate pipe diameter and bracing....
Ended up getting a Quicksilver system for it but had to have that modified to rectify the lack of OEM flanging to mount to.
From the video you can see one of tips actually drawing air back in the exhaust.... After popping some bits online my phone instantly rang from the owner of Quicksilver, The guys who run Remus UK and Akrapovic UK all to express their shock.
Below I will post what we found and you can now hear the finished article on the rollers after fixing everything
OEM - 544bhp and 760nm
Previous - 621bhp and 995nm
Stage 1 FIXED - 696bhp and 1127nm
