Mercedes Garage or Private for a Service?

I'd be a bit scared about letting Halfords near my mountain bike, never mind my SL.

Halfrauds are a joke. This is not from personal experience but from friends whom have used them. Indy all the way. Main dealers don't give you the care ad attention that a good Indy will and they will rip you off everytime

OK, I can't have a tea and chat with the tech working on my car but my dealer is careful and attentive and also doesn't "rip me off".

Don't tar all dealers with the same brush!

Must admit that I've never had a problem with Mercedes Manchester, but I now prefer to use SPR Autos as they have more experience with my era of cars.

Actually I did leave my mountain bike with them to put new tyres on it. Unbelievably they had NOT done up the rear wheel nuts, which became apparent the first time I rode it

I would try to find a respected local indie.

In my experience, taking the car to be serviced at a franchised dealer is the worst part of Mercedes ownership in terms of both customer service and cost.

Really? I never had a problem and I never failed to get MB to match an indie quote.

I used Mercedes Northampton for exactly the same service on my C180 (4 years, car had done 47000 miles however) -

Oil
Air Filter
Spark Plugs
Brake Fluid
Automatic Transmission Fluid
Oil Filter

£430 all in - Its been nearly a year later and the car is still fine, now heading onto its next service next month which should be back at Mercedes Northampton.
