Mercedes ML270 Revving, Dont know why?

Hey... I wondered if someone could help me. I have a ML270 and I went away and disconnected the battery. Now I have reconnected it when I turn it on the car just revs madly?! Any ideas.... cheers!

1st check and clean the idle control valve (assuming it's happening when you turn it on and leave it at idle and not when you sit and rev it).

Its a diesel, there is no idle control valve.

I'd be checking you didn't disturb the throttle cable when you disconnected the battery. The cable runs along the top of the firewall where the back of the battery is, and over to the throttle pot towards the opposite side of the firewall. Check that cable and pot is free and springs back.
