Mercedes parts warranty

Hello everyone just new to this kind of chat, i bought a 65 plate Mercedes 200 from a car place in September 2018 ,the car had full history at this point and the car company I bought it from (not a Mercedes company but very reputable) said they serviced the car and gave me all the previous paperwork with the car ,the salesman showed me a couple of Mercedes receipts that work had been carried out on the car from Mercedes one being that they had to replace the sun-blind in August 18 ,so I use the blind a cpl of weeks ago and it starts to grind and starts to chew up and doesn’t work properly ,I call Mercedes and book it in ,they identify that it is the same problem as before and only suggest that they will meet half the costs as I’m a new owner of the car and they said because they didn’t service the car !I stand to be corrected here but surely if the same fault is reported again in such a short timescale then the original cause has not been identified properly??
Any advice would be appreciated!

I would have thought that any new part would have a years cover , but the new owner opt out clause seems very sneaky, I don't think you will have much luck . Hopefully someone will help with some better advice .

IIRC Mercedes parts have a 2 year warranty although difficult in this situation.

Do you have the receipt for the blind being fitted by Mercedes? That would go a long way into getting a positive result.

It often excludes electrical parts. I do need to double check the wording though. I wonder if that is what they are claiming it against.

Some weasel words here, the warranty goes with the car and the parts.
You need to find out from who sold it to you or the previous owner when and where, MB will know from the cars records but they are behaving like scoundrels if they have not explained this properly.

Or has your cars warranty expired and it was done under that then the warranty runs out when the cars does and you are then asking for goodwill.

I have the receipt for it and took it back to the place where it was sorted originally and just checked the paperwork there and noticed it was the guy who I was speaking to was the original guy who booked it in on August 18! I get the feeling they are being awkward and with offering to pay 50% of the £1600 they are being unreasonable!

Thanks for the welcome ,also the car’s warranty ran out on September 18,the problem was sorted on August 18 I presume under the warranty! Going back into see them again as I said in an earlier post that if the original fault had been sorted then we wouldn’t be discussing it . I purchased the car on October
