Mercedes AMG GTS - GLS350d
Hey guys,

Had been working with one of our new tuning partners Imperials in Essex and though I would share this little beauty that was just chilling in amongst the 4x4 and countless Range Rovers and Audi Q7's!!!

Tuning packages are available for this vehicle and the SL65 AMG will gain an extra 60bhp and 110nm of torque on a stock vehicle! This can be taken further with high performance exhaust systems and performance air filters!

If you guys have any questions please post below!

Here are the pics

It is a 2005 car, currently advertised for sale on several sites. It has been modified by CKS and and Torque Developments, and the ad states that it was registered as a cat D insurance loss. I only know this because I am currently looking at 65's for sale, as I have an interest in buying one. As I am in Ireland, that is not proving easy!!
Is cat D in a cars history a big no no ??? The car is advertised at £38k

Private its worth £21-27K depending on mileage etc.

Dealer £24-31

Cat D will most certainly reduce the value of the car somewhat, 2-3k at least I would say.

I have never seen any for sale under high thirties..I can't imagine it is worth offering Imperials 30k given they are asking 38k.

Going by multiple valuation sources thats all. I certainly think they are asking too much for a cat D

A class 'D' write off is usually one that has been stolen, paid out for by the insurance company and then later recovered, so usually just had lock damage maybe some minor cosmetic stuff that is not economic to repair...these are the only write offs I would touch, if its been repaired properly (new locks etc) then around 60%-70% of the normal value is about right.

Biggest problem would be if you ever came to resell it. You would have to let prospective purchasers know that it was a Cat D, they would know anyway if they perform HPI check. It may be enough to put some potential new owners off...

I had a Cat D car once. A BMW 320 Convertible. It'd been written off due to economic reasons, but the owner had pushed for the repair to be done. Basically, someone had knifed the canvas roof, which was a £4,000+ dealer fix against a car valued at about £10k at the time.

So, the car was sound, but had a brand new and pristine roof. Still, it put people off buying it mainly because they didn't understand what a Cat D was and thought it'd been in a bad crash or something. I got a bargain, but so did the next buyer as I broke even on price.
