Beautifal Black Mercedes SLK350 with only 91000 miles on the clock backed up with full service history ,has a new MOT with no advisories ,has new springs all round...the best thing about this car but not the least is the 3.5 v6 uprated evo engine that puts out 272 Bhp 35 more than standard ..and will get you to 60mph in 5.5 seconds..where can you get that kind of performance for under 5k?
Ths SLK also benefits from 18inch AMG alloys with great tyres..and a Immaculate black leather interior ..this is a truly exceptional looking and driving slk with blistering performance and a fantastic exhaust note from the the v6 and twin exhausts ..exceptional beautiful car and with near classic car status is this one for the shrewd investor....

    What year is it?
    How much is it?
Is the engine in the “at risk” category for balance shaft issues?
    No airscarf :(

    :(

Mercedes-Benz with the improved parts have engine serial numbers that are higher than:

    • M272 Engine Serial No. 2729..30 468993
    Yours is 30167850 :(

    Step 2

If your engine serial number is lower than the serial numbers shown above you should perform a scan of your engine ECU, which is very easy. You will need an OBD-II scanner. Any of these Best Selling OBD-II Scanners and Code Readers on Amazon would work. Plug the scanner in the OBD-II port under the dashboard and read the fault codes from the engine ECU. You will get error codes if your check engine light is ON. If your check engine light is off, you could get pending fault codes meaning that the car is just detecting the problems but has not yet turned ON the check engine/service engine light.

Hopefully, you don’t have any of these codes:

Fault Code: P1200 or P1208 Pending or Stored
Fault codes 0059, 0060, 0063, 0064, 0271, 0272, 0275, and 0276. These fault codes could be recorded as current in the ECU fault memory. If current or pending these codes are caused by a malfunctioning camshaft adjustment solenoid. If you have these codes you should check for oil leak at camshaft adjustment solenoids.

    Step 3

If your engine serial number is part of the affected cars, then you may want to inspect further. Perform a visual inspection for wear of the teeth on the sprocket on the M272 or the guide idler gear of the timing chain for the M273 by removing the timing case cover of the engine. If you conclude that you have balance shaft engine issues, the repair is very labor intensive, and the engine will have to be removed.

Oh well all doom and gloom aside:eek: ..the car was at welwyn merx last week and was scanned with no faults present and it drives perfect ,im assuming not every single engine built within the wrong serial range numbers has broken but i really appreciate being informed thankyou and if its the case that the engine is a liability i will consider giving the car away or scrapping it.:)

It’s just one of the things to be aware of with M272 engines unfortunately (I have one)
They’re great engines and sound great when running as they should.

    Good luck with your sale
