Mercedes sprinter dab radio issue

Hello I am new to this can somebody please help me!

i’ve had a DAB radio Kenwood installed in my 2017 sprinter yesterday at Halfords the problem is they can’t get the DAB radio to work it keeps losing signal they’ve change the system and change the DAB aerial to no avail and are scratching their heads now they’re going to order me a more powerful aerial but they’ve never had this issue before is there an issue changing the radio if any body knows in the Mercedes sprinters from the factory standard radio to the DAB digital thank you John

Hello and welcome

Did they install a new antenna or just use the Mercedes one? A lot of Mercedes have an antenna pre-amp which means it needs a power supply - this is normally achieved by sending power up the antenna co-ax cable.
You can get adapters that go on the back of the head unit and take a 12v supply from the multi-plug and add it to the antenna. (Halfords even sell them…)

we had quite a few where junk extras cause so much noise it swamps DAB... unplug / disconnect ALL the electrical trash that's not Merc std

e.g. Reversing cam, phone charges, trackers, etc. and see if it helps....

FYI you don't want a DAB radio its 2010 tech that's almost obsolete you need DAB+ a totally different system. If what you got is NOT DAB+ get your money back
