Hi guys
My mercedes w213 e220 was serviced few months ago. It has only done 3500 miles since then. Am a taxi driver thats why so many miles in few months. Today got a message ADD 1.01 LITRE OF ENGINE OIL.

is that normal? I mean wheres the oil gone. I had mercs in the past but never happened such a thing. Is it anything to worry about?

They can use a bit of oil especially when new. Mine used to use about a litre between services - I had it from 0 to 48k miles in 18 months

I would also just add 0.5 ltr and recheck the level. Quite often a coupe of hundred ml will put the light out.

Update
I parked my car for like 25 minutes. Started again and warning is gone. Checked the level its says engine oil level is ok but that green level is below the middle. Atleast its not brown anymore. I will check it back tomorrow morning. God knows what it was all about

When you think about it, the level went back to normal after 25 mins because the oil drained back down out of the galleries and into the sump.
Restarting the engine, its drawn back around the working parts and the level drops.
Add 0.5ltr and recheck it with a warm engine. If it requires more, add another 0.5ltr. Don't overfill it.

Thanks guys for help.
Will this keep happening again n again after few thousand miles? I had 3 mercs in the past but never happened. Is this issue is only with new models or om654 engines?

It could just be that the service ppl didnt add enough in the first place.

What they have found on the OM654 is that the level sensor is sensitive to oil expansion. Twice after service I had the “oil level too high” warning. They slightly under fill on service so you don’t get the too much warning, it just means when it uses some (and they do) that you get the oil under warning

The main thing with topping up is to not go above the max mark so adding 0.5 litres at a time is the right way to go. Oil expands when hot so some care is needed too much and the crankcase starts to be become over overpressurised
