Anyone not visited Mercedes Benz World and finding themselves by junction 10 (Brooklands) on the M25. It is well worth making a small detour at the moment. Apart from the current new models and one new C Class on pre release, they have their usual dislay of 300SL Gullwings, one as a bare rolling chassis , a really lovely 30`s cabriolet , a Riley Brooklands special (interloper),
and the 1909 Blitzen Benz. 125kph on wire wheels with 3" tyres. Now ! that must have been purgative.It is the Brooklands Centenial Festival 16th-17th June

Just after the war you cold not give these things away. A 1918 RR silver ghost would only make £25 with luck, the same car now £150.000- £200.000

IF only we'd have known what was to come - I remember being told I had a small inheritance back in the mid 80's and I should go and buy a house locally with it (would have covered around 30%) but I was happy at home and really didn't want the hassle....
2 years later and prices had more than doubled. All seemed very expensive so the idea went away...until you look back from today!
Wouldn't take a lot of hindsight to be a rich man!
