metallic clicking window syndrome (I think this is a known W124 fault)

Good morning all.

My trusty E300D has developed the metallic clicking window syndrome (I think this is a known W124 fault).

Basically it clicks/clunks (loudly) when you lower/raise the window but only when the pain is at the top.

Has anyone any info on what I have to do/buy?

I’m a competent DIY mechanic, so I’ll be doing it at home – if possible…

You need a new regulator. The teeth are worn away at the top of the quadrant

Can i buy a new quadrant?!

Is it easy to remove door card?

Yes and yes, search this lot and your answers are to be found.

Or get a Haynes book of lies, it is quite usefull.

If you realy want to it may be possible to mend the old regulator.

i got a new mb part on ebay for my w124 for £28 from dronsfeild & its not hard to fit but 3 hands helps
