Mgf 1.8 vvc good or bad

    Might go for a 99/00 1.8 auto don't think it's the vvc/t though

    That will be the MG F 1.8 i then as the VVC never had the auto CVT box. If it is a post August 99 car then it should be the MY00 model which was often referred to as the MkII, and is when they steptronic (with the CVT auto gearbox) was released.

    Yes that's it

    Needs the h/g done though and the 2 mechanics I know won't do it :mad: so I need to either try and do it myself or get it to somebody I've never used.

    Very good condition though and only 48000 for 19 years old. I'm wary of the auto though even though it's only nearly 50000.

    As per my previous post. Make sure you get the latest Head Gasket Kit, also change the ladder rail with the strengthened one. I would also replace the stretch bolts at this age, even if they are in tolerance.

    Head should only be skimmed if out of tolerance as you don't want to remove the hardened surface if you don't have too.

    I would also be fitting one of the aftermarket coolant warning kits as well whilst you are at it.
