mid 90's S class 420 or 500

I am going to buy a V8 S class sometime this year. I have never had a V8, and they have never been more affordable.

So which one should I buy and what should I look out for?

engine 06 on has 8 plugs and slightly more power. Up from 308 bhp to 370bhp
