I have been after a well priced tool to read and clear fault codes + clear the MIL light for a year or two now , spent a couple of hundred pounds on various gadgets programs act all to no avail. Well I found one that works on my 2001 C200k model which is just before the system changed to the modern version of code reading. I am posting this Info because having to go to a garage to clear the codes is cost and time also this gadget will do many makes of car. It’s sold by Jack Sealey and is a OBD11 / EOBD code reader part no VS8700 and about £65.00.A Mech friend says he has not come across a car it does not work on YET. I also notice that MAC Tools sell one to me it looks like the same product but rebranded There part no is ET80 there is one on Ebay at the moment (no it’s not mine). Happy Code Reading.
PS I have no connection with Sealey or MAC Tools just being helpful.

does it work for ALL fault codes though? ive looked at a few and they only seem to clear engine management type codes, not many other systems like SRS, ASR/BAS, auto gearbox and airbags for example?

It needs an MB dedicated reader to do this and they are all £2k plus

thats what i thought. and unless you have mil problems often, are they worth buying? i have seen the full STAR diagnostic software on e-bay for about 20 or 30 quid. just load into a laptop and connect to your car. or so they say. anyone got any experience of it? i dont have a laptop. yet.

This is the old car soft 7.4 and that use the old IBM laptop with a 9 pin serial port, some get them to work and some do not manage it

not what they said they were then. according to the ad, they claimed to be able to read up to about 2007 if i remember correctly. sounds more like 1987 might be more accurate! lol
