Has anyone got minor damage insurance that they've purchased rather than got it from the dealer? I'm looking at motoreasy or car2cover & would appreciate reviews/thoughts.

Check what it actually covers in terms of size/type of damage, what surface it actually covers a repair on (generally vertical panels, not bonnet, not roof, not boot).

Minor damage, I think you need to calculate the costs of the premium and the excess and determine of you know a body shop would do the work for less. Unless you are prone to lots of minor mishaps....hmmm

I would think that you will still have to inform your car insurance provider should you sustain any damage, even minor, if you are claiming off a "minor damage" insurance policy. Based on that I would question the value of the insurance.

The cost is around £100 a year with a £10 excess with 3-6 claims per year.

My wife parks in public car parks for work& already has 2 dings on the car from people opening doors on to our car.

I wonder if you claimed on minor damage, then would you still need to infrom your main insurer under thier "have you made any claim" question. Surely this would fall under the question and affect your claim cost, risk assesment.

You would still be required to inform them.

the point is if someone makes 3-6 claims per year then one would clearly infer thier main insurance would rocket the next year.

It will anyway as you will need to declare all losses and claims.
