I am replacing my discs and pads, which are the best, mintex or pagid? In the past I've found some pads don't fit correctly and they have to be ground down

I was quite impressed with the Brembo discs and pads I fitted a couple of weeks ago to the CLK rear , especially for £70 all in

Original - ring a few MB dealers if they have what you want in stock they will usually offer a discount. A couple of MB dealers trade on EBay so it’s also worth looking on there. I’ve experienced such a variation in quality it’s not worth trying to save a few £s. I did once fit a set of Brembo all round and they were up to the job

I fitted Mintex disc and pads on to every car disc replacement i have had to do, along with the disc pads in the last 50 years and i never had a bad set . If Mintex dont know how to make break parts then no one dose .

Almost all of those companies supply OEM parts direct to one vehicle assembly plant or other, somewhere in the world. Their quality is all comparable.

Brembo gets my vote as you can get the discs and pads together from the likes of ECP/GSFCP and even on some fussy vehicles, they have fitted well, performance and durability has always been good.

ATE and Textar are also very good but harder to source.

Pagid used to be good and I never had issues with them but, after hearing about some quality woes after ECP bought them, I've stayed clear.

Since Pagid changed to be Eurocarparts own brand I have found they lack real bite when you ask for hard braking. I'd very much like to do some testing of stopping distances myself with some of these brands. APEC are the main stay product of my local motor factor and I use them as a second choice to Mercedes originals. They are very good value for the money, and I've never sent a set back or had trouble with squealing. I tend to buy most brakes from Mercedes themselves as they offer a large trade discount that brings them very close to the price of aftermarket alternatives.
Things I would definitely avoid - Borg and Beck. I have never fitted a set of their discs that didn't come back with DTV inside a year. They offer a no quibble guarantee and replace them with no fuss, but that is not the point.

At a guess I'd say either Eurocarparts / Car Parts 4 Less or GSFCarParts.
