I recently had a TomTom installed in my wife's E240 (2001) estate by a well known high street auto accesory supplier (H). Apart from needing to reenter the radio code after the fitting, all seemed to be fine until I wanted to drive the car 3 days later. I tried to adjust the mirrors and guess what happened? Nothing! The switch that closes and opens the mirrors worked fine but the joystick felt stiff and when I tried to switch from left to right mirror it felt as if the buttons had become glues together. After some pressure they moved in and out as before but absolutely nothing happened with the mirror positions. It looked as if the joystick toggle had become damaged in the fitting process but I think that is a secondary issue because I can feel and hear the switch clicking but no movement of either mirror occurs. I have been back to the store and they have said sorry and if Mercedes say it is their fault they will pay for the repair. The problem is my wife needs the car over Christmas. So three questions:
1. Is there a fuse for the mirrors that the fitter may have blown and if so where is it located?
2. The joystick switch will have to be replaced so is it a reasonably straightforward process to remove the central consol? It looks typically well built with no obvious signs of how to remove it.
3.How much is a new switch likely to cost and where can I obtain one pdq?
Many thanks Michael
