Well for the first time on Friday I put a few litres of petrol in my diesel car.
I was at a Shell station read the advert for the V-Power and just picked up the red labelled nozzle but quickly realised I needed the other red labelled one with black.
Whatever, I swapped to diesel and put another 30 litres of diesel in, so some contamination.
I then decided to try the mineral two stroke oil as it adds some lubrication, now depleted by my mistake.
The engine felt smoother within a few miles so was it a relief related Placebo ?
I shall do some more miles and report back.

sounds interesting and may be a bit of a placebo but from all accounts i've read, adding a little 2 stroke does make things a little better although the gasses out the back may be a little dirtier??

Its not a placebo at all.
I hVe been putting 2 stroke in all my Diesel cars for the past 5 or 6 years.
The only time my engines ever feel rough (comparatively) is when I have forgotten to add it.
its well documented especially in America.
its an antidote to the ultra low sulphur water that they call fuel.

I don't if I have been fortunate, I have many times put 30 or 40 litres of petrol in my ML 320 cdi, I then filled the car to the brim and just kept topping up with diesel for a short while!
I have a friend who races a diesel car and he adds a gallon of petrol to a tank of diesel, he reckons it livens it up!

Hi Matty
around 300cc per tankful.
to a certain extent not critical.
Try to get the cheap mineral version and not the synthetic veriety mate.
All your doing is making the fuel more "slippery"

The main instigator for trying the two stroke was my misfuelling, so it was kind of forced on me.
It seemed a reasonable idea to get over the reduction in lubricity from adding petrol.

If you recall, many people run these and other diesels on chip-pan oil. So - don't worry until your DPF blows your big ends, little ends, oil pump, fuel pump, speedo, sunroof, boot seals, and electric seats!

I have now used the 2 stroke oil in every "Cdi" I have owned.
2 x 270's and 3 x 320's
All engines ran beautifully and haven't blown up... Or seized..Or failed an MOT.
Obviously we all make choices with what we do to our cars..
I have made mine and I shall be sticking to it.

Must be caustic stuff as my DPF and sunroof have gone already.

I think V6Matyy was talking about fueling with chip pan oil, rather than adding 2 stroke to your diesel.

I'm not knowledgeable enough to disagree with the advantage of adding 2 stroke but assuming this is purely for improving the life of the engine I have another view.
Our CDI's are generally expected to be good for a half million miles or so. The majority of owners seem to expect this and I don't believe they do more than fill up, service, and drive.

With these mega miles likely we will have sold the car on before they clap out or the rest of the car will have given up on us.
Why bother?

A genuine question.

Our urge to tinker,
or in my case misfuelling pushed my hand.
The cars though rarely do hundreds of thousands without fuel related issues, so maybe some extra lubrication may assist ?

Frontstep I can see why you compensated for the reduced lube effect created by the unleaded, the misfuelling could happen to any of us and I have been close.
Diesel 'oil' is pretty slippy stuff already so I wonder if more slippy is advantageous / needed.
Petrol engines seem to do alright without, although admittedly not for the same expected mileage.

I had a customer with a 320CDI W210 that filled up with £20 of unleaded when his fuel light was on at a services, just needed a top up to get him home. He did 76 miles before it started to go lumpy and the fuel light was nearly on when he got back. Seems these old 613's will run on pretty much anything.

I have to say I am tempted to add some 2 stroke to my 646 engine. What sort of dilution across 60L are you doing?

Oh and I have noticed the return of an old friend. Welcome back Simon!! Hope life is improving after the rotten times of last year. Hope to see you soon matey!
