missfire at high revs and high fuel consumption

Hi

my 86 300sl is suffering a missfire at high revs and high fuel consumption generally she runs fine and smooth but the oother day was reluctant to start after a 30 minute run

any ideas please

Could be a host of things but(stating the obvious) sounds like the car needs a check over & tune up. High consumption is a symptom of the poor running issues; air filter, vacuum ,fuel related, ignition ,plugs, leads ... let someone reliable take a look who knows this model or you could spend a lot of time & money not to mention frustration if you overlook the basics.

High fuel consumption can be caused by faulty fuel distributor which is very expensive. It may well be someting simple though.

thanks for that but it was checked over a thousand miles or so ago for a stalling problem since then i have the misfire
