Missing bulbs on both front headlights but it's ok

Opened up my current lights and found them to be missing a bulb on each side. So now I'm totally confused

Anyone know why this could be?

Went through an mot and passed
It has main beam, side lights for lights. Just these are missing

Could have been for foglights if not fitted in the bumper...it was a thing back in the day.

I'd have thought that there should be a bulb (H1 maybe) located into the hole in the plate that's screwed into the back of the head light. Should the car have 2 dipped either side and the bulb above has both ???? ie a H4

Is the bulb in the headlight twin filament?
Perhaps there has been a mod done to convert it.

Just keep using the same MOT garage

But i might look at getting a set of modern looking lights instead of the glass fronted ones. More of a style thing. Anyone done that?
