I was monitoring temps where I am at the times I drive. The purported benefits of winter tyres would have been of use less that 60 days in total over the winter to date, and they were spread over 120 days. Last year the ratio was even less favourable to justify winter tyres being just 20 days. It makes no economic sense for me to invest in winter or all season tyres as I don't think there are any all season or winter tyres A rated for wet weather and that is far more of a concern than cold temperatures. In the event there is snow I'm also able to work from home and can just leave the car on the drive.Don't look at in terms of just snow , a cheap set of winter wheels and tyres have distinct safety advantages below 7 degrees c and make your usually more expensive summer tyres last twice as long .
Whilst I accept winter tyres are useful for some they aren't worth the outlay to me at present.
