Hello,

I've had this be for, I assume what has happen is that one of the port shutoff flap's has broken or come loose? The one that I did had to have a new manifold. If this is what happen to your there is a good chance that you will need one to? From memory there wasn't a repair kit available it was all built in. I may be wrong though as it was a while back.

Hope this may be of some help.

It's not a very nice job to do from what i can remember it was last year that i done it. From memory there was lots bits that have to come off and a few bolts that are bit of a pain to get to. I done the job on two poster ramp which made it easier. I think the bit that gave me the most trouble was the metal water way that run's around the back of manifold. As for cost i don't know not my car i just fix them. Sorry.

Hope this helps and good luck.

I have read some of these faults and wondered why the inlet manifold has to be changed, thanks

I can only speak from the one that i did, When i removed the manifold i found that one of the plastic flaps had come out and gone down and was resting on the valve. Also the plastic hinge's that the flap attach's to was also loose and was half hanging out. I work at a indy, When we spoke to our dealship we use told us that a manifold was needed! Once i had the new one i tried taking the old one apart and couldn't do it without breaking bits of it as whole manifold is all plastic and appeared to be made as one piece? It was a while back so can't remember exactly what it looked like.

Has anyone found away of repairing these manifold's?

I've also seen the same fault on the 210 E220 CDI

took the car to merc. got a diagnostic. they advised that the inlet port shutoff needs changing.

soo i ordered the part and got my mechinic to change the part.(saved alot on labour.)

the problem i am having is that the car is still in limp home mode.

is there anyway to get the car out of it without going back to merc.

any advise?

Hi Meri Gadi ! Welcome to the ML270 cdi problems.
I already pased for your problem, it is exactly what Luders79 describe; manifold, inlets valves, flaps and links valves made of plastics.
Of course not kevlar or another high impact plastic, but the very cheap and ordinary of the market.
For this and others problems of cheaper components I am ver upset with Mercedes Benz.
Concerning your problem, my mechanic fixed it without replacing the manifold intake.
Up to now it worked very well (one year, 50000Km)
I´ll keep ready for earing about your electric windows switches, brake switch, srs ligth, diesel inyectors, etc, etc.
All the best,
