ML 270 cdi X reg
Hi there. I have a 2000 ML 270 Cdi. The srs light is on most of the time. Had the codes read and apparently it's the child seat recognition pad on the passenger front seat.
Does anyone have any idea if this is an easy fix?
Or anyway of turning it off permanently as there is never a child seat in the front.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Duncan, you are indeed fortunate that your seat sensor lasted so long! Mine went faulty after 6 years or so, very common fault. You can't turn it off!!

You have a simple choice.
1. Replace it. £120 or so for a new sensor pad and then fitting it, seat strip down. Another £100 I guess.

2. Get a device called an emulator off ebay, about £10 or 15 from the Far East. This needs connecting in place of the sensor, the car ecu then thinks all is in order, but if you fit a genuine merc child seat on the passenger seat, the air bag on that side will still deploy in an impact I believe.

The emulator I fitted was very well made and did the job, ecuparts make I think. If you do order one, just be sure to get the one specified for your model.
