Hi, strange problem, my ML is difficult to start when pointing uphill. The problem seems to be that the fuel is not getting through when on a slope. it starts perfectly when on the level or pointing downhill.

Any help will be gratefully received, however prefer DIY solution as nearest dealer is 60 miles away!

Air is getting into the fuel lines. You can buy a set of fuel lines from mb

I had exactly this problem with mine.

It was indeed air in the lines. But, there was nothing wrong with any of the system, turned out that a batch of below par diesel had partially blocked the filter, causing the engine to suck harder, causing air ingress. That air then drifted up to the block end of the gubbins when parked nose up - no startey motor till cranked a lot.

Couple of quids on a new filter and all was back to normal, and has been since.

    Probably worth a try.
