Hi all ,
I'm trying to solve an issue with an ML 320 driver side window.
I've stripped the door down and have checked the motor , switches and mechanism. All are in order... however even though the motor will drive the toothed semi circular lifting mechanism just fine, it will not raise or lower the window.
The window itself can be raised manually either by pulling the glass from the top or pushing the cradle from below. The problem is that even though the motor driven semi cirular cog is attached to the cradle it will not lift.
I checked the door tray carefully looking for any sheared or loose parts and found none. Not being familiar with this operation I'm stumped. Can someone please advise?

Are there any loose bolts in the bottom of the door, the atatchment that goes onto the window its self must have come off. its got to be something simple it the drive is going!

As I said looked very carefully in the door tray.....nothing.
This mechanism must have a pivotal point by which the cog assembly drives the window lift. It's this part I'm trying to identify. And I agree..... It must be something simple!!!! As I'm sure your aware the motor , assembly etc are all mounted within the door panel making visibility only possible from the top. I feel you need to have made this repair previously to know the part.

If u can move the window the lifting arm has come adrift, you will need to remove the complete winder mechanism from the door and check how it fits on to the glass. it would appear the winder is working properly.

Had the same problem on my ML .............you need to remove the window lifting mechanism (regulator) this is a very easy procedure but involves drilling out the 4 or 5 pop-rivets that secure it to the door frame.....With the regulator removed you will see that the three small welds at the centre of the 'scissor' will have sheared allowing the mechanism to 'pivot' when it should actually be fixed solid.

I got mine re-welded rather than pay £80 for a new regulator.

You can use standard pop-rivets when refitting.
