There would appear to be a banking anomaly, and a a result, MB Finance have not collected premiums for about six months.... I don't 'do' Ins - it is domestic control's dept.

At the time it was renewed after the first ML was CTL'd I thought they were expensive.

Who offers the best deal for an ML parked off road in a drive in CO3?

We are paying (well, we would be :) )about six hundred quid which I think is way way way OTT.

They did well for me, saved £200 and am still with NU.

Great thanks Carabind - working on it...

There have been some base line three hundred quid quotes, checking them on the fone they all come out at about five hundred quid.

Am going to try and get MB to sharpen their pencil and match the best I can see.

They saved me £300 on the Jeep, will probably knock another £200 of the merc at renewal and I just showed it to my Dad and it looks to bring his preium on the E220 down from £400 to around £250. Even his existing insurer came back with a cheaper quote so he'll be having words - (hell it's starting to sound like an insurance ad!)
Well worth a go compares 20+ quotes instantly.

Errr...

It would seem that the letter claiming four hundred odd quid is oustanding refers to the gap ins we had on the write off. I've 'handed the file over' to the wife - two phonecalls to MB Ins and that is my boredom threshold exhausted.

Well, they had that - the car was written off and we did not clim on the gap as the insurers for the other vehicle actually coughed up more than I paid for the car in the first place ;)

Apparently MB claim we have not infomed them that we no longer want gap - the fact that we had a very heated discussion about amending the gap policy for a different vehicle (which they flatly refused to do - even though I wanted to approach the underwiters directly as there was no material change in insurance - we were replacing one ML with and almost identical one.)

Is it just me? Would a lengthy discussion regarding an insured vehicle which they fully understand is written off, sort of trigger a 'lets cancel the policy becuse there is no insurable interest anymore' type reaction.

Sorry, now a bit confused between your two messages. But I think you had a write off, got the claim in full from the other party, and now MB are jumping in saying you owe them for Gap insurance. Unless there was a shared blame, (which I think not from what you say), I can't see their loss? Unless the £400 is the premium?

Carabind, the gap premium from MB Croyden was an arm and a leg - I did not really intend tos pend the amount I did on that ML but....... Anyway, it would have been foolish NOT to have taken the gap ins, the fool in me merely paid too much for the cover.

There was no claim on my car insurance policy for the written off ML. After the drunk drivers insurers had done a couple of rounds with me, they ended up paying me about 10% more in their settlement than I paid for the destroyed car.

I had a major falling out with MB gap insurers, merely asking for a modification of the policy (same make/model slightly less value car) - but they would not play ball -

They now alledge that we did not cancel the policy. They can whistle for the premium they claim is outstanding. There has been no insurable risk since 22/02/06.

Incidently, I ended up paying a lot less than HALF the premium for the new gap on the current ML. Bought it from Lancaster Colchester and got a very very good deal on the car itself.

The current car has just a smidge under 26000 on the clock and is being delivered for first service tonight.
