At work yesteday, then last night and now at work again today i have returned to my car after approx 4 hours and it has been unlocked. I know its not me because when i get in i press the unlock button once and this only does the drivers door but when i find it unlocked all the doors are.

This isnt an issue so far a i work on a very very secure site and its not really at risk at home but im not fancying it if i go shopping this weekend.

What could it be?

I had a problem when the drivers door/panels were replaced under warranty, where the doors, once locked by remote, would lock, open, lock, then open. Turned out that the control module in the door (what the Dealer described) was faulty and needed replacing! Cant verify this, but someone like Malcolm could point you to the central locking door control module as a started.

Also, when you lock the car, does it flash at you? If not, then a door lock or sensor is not working. It only flashes at you if it thinks all doors are secured.

It flashes and definately locks as i have taken to checking the doors now when i leave it.

was hoping you might say it needs a new battery or something.

The MLs arent that advanced! Ive regularly had low or flat batteries (less so now that I use Carbon Fibre battery) due to COMAND unless I remove fuse F21 (I use a CAN simulator, which drains the battery). Never had the car open due to low voltage or flat battery! Not to say its not a possibility, you have Top of Range ML, so will be a bit different to a 270!

Hopefully a tech or other member who has had this fault may point to the culprit!

I intend to look it up this evening to see if it is a known fault.

I am trying to change the phone module in my car for the minute, and I feel sure that they started with this and built the car around it.

As a side issue - if I unlock my A Class with the remote, then am diverted and don't open the door, I come back to find it has re-locked itself. This is fine except - would it do the same if I left the key in the ignition, I wouldn't like that to happen.

No it would not,, the car would have to be moving and would need a speed signal to lock it. The external central locking is disabled when the key is in the ign

How can you leave the key in the ignition without opening the door. As soon as you open the door it de-activates the self re-locking.

If you passed away in the drivers seat

No one else could lock it with another control if the key was in the ign

Working on a very very secure site, especially if there are lots of communications, and electrical activity then its possible that your particular signal frequency could be copied and cause the problem..

This is the re-assurance I was looking for ! Scenario: Get in car, leave key in ignition, wife gesticulates you've forgotten something, get out of car leaving key in ignition, go back into house, come back to find car has locked itself.

Am happy that this cannot happen!

Nothing listed at all for this problem,, on the brighter side it is all fault coded so a readout should tell all
