 Hi there, newbie to the site so please bear with me. Have a 2001 ML270 CDi face lift, and im busy installing my Kenwood sat nav and double din head unit. Im sure that others have asked this but I cannot be sure so I will. Can anyone tell me where I can pick up a signal fron the speed sensor. Have been told that it is one of the wires in the ISO plug at the back of the radio but not too sure. When all is done will post photos of the set up just in case someone is interested. Withe the head unit in it does look vey nice.
Thanks all in anticipation!!!!

Pin 1 of the A connector.

As you look at the back of the old unit, the A connector goes into the bottom right socket.

If you dont have a wire on Pin1 A then you will need to run a speed pulse as per the instructions here

:DThanks Alfie. Job done. A1 exists and works a treat.
Have now managed to get the head unit all in and it looks good. Kenwood DDX6029 head unit which plays DVDs with unbelievable quality. Under the pasenger seat is fitted the kenwood KNA-DV3200 DVD based sat nav unit. Behind the glovebox is fitted the Kenwood KCA-iP500 ipod interface which allows the ipod to be totaly controled by the head unit. Also in there is the Kenwood BT100 bluetooth adapter so any bluetooth phone automaticly conects as you get into the car and is controled from the head unit..
Highly recommend this setup if you are hanging on to you ML for some time. Little while to set up but so worth it. 50w x 4 propper loud without silly amps.

It looks very nice and well done for the effort, but wouldnt it of been easier to install command? why did you decide to go this route out of interest.

The main reason is because I recently sold my Freelander which I had all this set up in before. I liked the idea of the ipod interface (which with this head unit is just great), and totaly wireless phone usage (doesn't even come out of my pocket and have full usage including phone book). I may be proven wrong but doesn't comand require wired phone connection and Im not sure whether theres an ipod interface for it?.
Mainly I had all the goodies already and I just love gizmo gadgets.
Anybody else got any great ML gizmos I should try.

Comand in a facelifted W163 ML is about a 15 minute retrofit!

However, it wont give the same connectivity to Ipod or have any bluetooth capability:(

Well done, looks very nice.

The Navigation unit is the Kenwood KNA-DV3200

The ipod interface is the Kenwood KCA-IP500

And the bluetooth adapter is the Kenwood KCA-BT100

The DV3200 is getting replaced now with the GNA-G520 hard disk satnav unit. Progress I supose.

Hope this has sown some seeds.

Removing Merc Nav System

Hi
The pictures look great "a job well done" hopefully not a stupid question but how did you remove the old Merc system as i have aproblem and need to get it out but so far have been unable to remove it. I do have what i believe are the correct removal tools but when i insert them the unit won't budge. any advise you are able to give would be appreciated.
Regards
Dave.
